My name is Michelle and my background involved being an "on-fire," born-again & spirit-filled Christian for over 33 years. I now consider myself a Spiritual Agnostic / Humanist...although I don't think any label will ever fit my views 100% because I don't like boxes and I am always growing and learning new things. :)
Anyways, I created this site for a few different reasons. The main reason being because over the years I have come to know many wonderful Christian people with whom I continue to cherish relationships with. Many of whom have no idea I have de-converted from Christianity, and the those who have known, have been left with many questions as to WHY. So my intention for creating this web site is to share with them (and others who are curious) about my journey towards Freethought, which eventually led to my de-conversion in January 2011.
Another reason I created this site is because I honestly do not have much time or energy to explain my reasons to everyone who will want to know. I would just rather focus on the things we DO have in common without feeling the need to debate, etc. So I figured the best way to communicate where I am at, would be in creating a web site for people to access on their own time. In this way, they can research as much, or as little, as they want - when they want. Sharing my research in this way also helps me to avoid the initial emotional responses that tend to result when Christians first find out about my de-conversion as well. It really is not my intention to try to offend Christians who are passionate about their faith and are trying to have a positive affect on their community. Nor do I think it's always in the best interest of every Christian to be de-converted either. I honestly think some people's faith helps them cope with life and even motivates them to live better lives. (Although in saying this, I in no way think its the "only " or "best" way for them to do so.) This being said, I dont feel the need to try to convince every Christian on my opinion on this. But for those who really want to know, or dig deeper, then this web site is for them.
So if you are one of those who has recently found out about my de-conversion and have been wanting an explanation to better understand what has brought me to this point in my life, please feel free to go through my web site. (Namely my pages: Why I Left My Faith & More Reasons Why which you can find on the tab/sub tab above.) Researching the material on these pages is really the only way one can really get a grasp of where I am coming from. However, I know from personal experience, just how hard it is to challenge one's faith. So I understand that many of you may not feel comfortable looking very far into the research material I have posted on my site... and that’s ok. Really. I can honestly respect that because I’ve been there. Nevertheless, for those who do, it is my hope that you will do so with an open mind and an open heart.
Either way, thanks for taking the time to stop by! :)
